Class Descriptions

Beginning Winemaking Class

This class will begin with a discussion of the general winemaking process and applicable terminology. Immediately following will be a demonstration of the four steps involved in making wine from an ingredient package manufactured by the industry leader, Wine Expert (formerly known as Brew King). We will also put an emphasis on the equipment necessary for winemaking and how to use it. Those who attend will leave this class with the knowledge of how to make a delicious wine in the comfort of their own home all year round.

Advanced Winemaking I Class

Instead of demonstration of the steps to make wine from an ingredient package, this class puts an emphasis on how to make wines from fresh fruit and juices. We will explain the equipment necessary and how to use it for the crushing/de-stemming, pressing, testing and balancing specific gravity, sulfite levels, acidity, yeast nutrient, pectic enzyme, tannins, and yeasts. Those who attend will leave this class with the knowledge and confidence to make wine from fresh fruit and juices.

Beginning Beer Making Class

This class will begin with a discussion of the general homebrew process and applicable terminology. Immediately following will be a demonstration of the three stages involved in making beer from an ingredient package as well as from scratch. We will also put an emphasis on the essential equipment necessary for homebrewing and how to use it. Those who attend will be able to make a delicious beer that their friends will surely envy.

Crushendo Winemaking Class

Much like the Beginning Winemaking Class, we will demonstrate all of the steps involved (and equipment necessary) for making wine from the Estate Crushendo Series kits which come with a pouch of real grape skins and pulp. We have found that these kits tend to be a little more difficult than a normal kit and therefore, we will demonstrate steps to make the process easier and simpler. The ultimate results of wine from this series have been out of this world and full in body and flavor.

Beginning Cheese Making Class

This class will begin with a discussion of the general cheese making process and applicable terminology. Immediately following will be a demonstration of the steps involved in making cheese from two types of cheese making kits (both soft & hard cheese) manufactured by the industry leader, the New England Cheesemaking Supply Company. We will also put an emphasis on the equipment necessary for cheese making and how to use it. Those who attend will leave this class with the knowledge of how to make a delicious cheese in the comfort of their own home all year round. We will also be sampling homemade cheeses as well as commercial versions of some of the great cheeses that we can make.
